Miyar Valley          

 

Manali –Miyar Valley –Kang La – Padum - 11 Nts / 12 Days

 

Months: Mid July to end September

Number of Days: 11Nts / 12 Days

Maximum Altitude: 5450m

Grade: Moderate - Strenuous & Technical

 

Day 1:  Manali – Udaipur: 9 Hours Drive

 

Day 2:  Udaipur – Chamrat (2950m) – 5 hours trek

 

Day 3: Chamrat- Urgos (3250m) - 5 hours

Urgos (3250 Mts) is a charming village in the heartland of Lahaul and is quite prosperous. The easy trail passes through typical Lahauli countryside.

Overnight in tents.
 

Day 4: Urgos – Tharang (3700m) – 6 hours

The trail to Tharang (3700 Mts) is quite easy by Himalayan standards and is dotted with flowers early in the season.

Overnight in tents.

 

Day 5: Tharang – Gumba Nullah – 6- 7 hours

Trek through lush green meadows to the next camp at Gumbah Nala (3900 Mts). These upper reaches of the Miyar Nala are renowned for the many flowers that dot the meadows in spring. Overnight in tents.
 

Day 6: Gumba Nullah – Base Camp (4200m) 1: 6 hours

An easy day of trekking through lush meadows with lots of spectacular scenery. The trail ascends steeply to the Base Camp at (4200 Mts) from where the trail becomes harder and steeper. Overnight in tents.

 

Day 7: Base Camp I – Glacier Camp: 7 hours

Trek up to the base of Miyar Glacier. Some of the glacier is crevassed but is no danger to wary and well equipped trekking parties.

Day 8: Glacier Camp – Kang La 5450m– Base Camp II: 8 hours

Have breakfast in the twilight and start trekking at first light. The trail is challenging and all precautions are taken to ensure the safety of the team. Set camp at the first good camping site after the descend from the top of the pass.

Day 9: Base Camp II – Bardan: 4- 5 hours

Trek into the heart of Zanskar and camp close to the ancient and well-preserved Burdun Gompa (Monastery). Trek into the heart of Zanskar and camp close to the ancient and well-preserved Burdun Gompa (Monastery).

Overnight in tents.

Day 10: Bardan – Padum:  3- 4 hours

Trek along a almost motorable road to the road head at Padum. Overnight at Hotel

 

Day 11: Padum – Mulbekh: 8 hour drive

Drive to Mulbekh which is famed for its large statue of the Buddha. Overnight in tents.
 

Day 12: Mulbekh –Leh: 9 – 10 hour drive

Drive along the famous Srinagar-Leh highway to reach Leh in the evening. Overnight at the hotel
